ANCYL Statement on Chris Hani Commemoration Day
ANC and South African Communist Party leaders Chris Hani and Nelson Mandela.
10 April 2014

The ANC Youth League commemorates the life of Chris Hani, born Martin Thembisile Hani (28 June 1942 - 10 April 1993). We honour his spirit and take-upon ourselves to lead our fellow young people to a national democratic society. We remain committed to the democratic ethos he espoused and a prosperous, non-racial, non-sexist, and democratic South Africa.

As the ANC Youth League, we have intertwined programmes to commemorate the lives of Comrade Chris Hani (passed-on: 10 April 1993) and that of Comrade Solomon Mahlangu (passed-on: 06 April 1979).

The ANC Youth League leadership will use the public platform afforded by the electioneering programme to highlight the valuable contributions that Comrade Chris Hani and Comrade Solomon Mahlangu made. Key amongst our message for April 2014 is the safeguarding of the hard-won South African democracy by the young people. We are convinced, as the ANC Youth League, that young people should be persuaded to vote ANC as it is the only political organisation with a plan to improve the lives of all South Africans notwithstanding the challenges that faces our society.

Our unequivocal call is that our fellow young people should remain steadfastly focused on building South Africa for better by ensuring that come Wednesday, 07 May 2014 they go out in their numbers to various Voting Stations and Vote ANC.
