Preparations for the Zanu-PF youth conference set for next month are now at an advanced stage, with nominations of the youth executive members starting on Monday.

The conference is set for between August 7 and 10 and would precede the Women’s League conference that would be held later in the month.

Both conferences a precede the Zanu-PF National People’s Congress that will be held in December.

In an interview yesterday, Secretary for Youths Cde Absolom Sikhosana said each province would have to come up with four representatives from their respective zones.

“Names will be received on Monday,” he said. “Each province will be zoned into four. Each province will have to come up with four representatives because each zone should come up with one person.

“The four names who will be nominated would be submitted to an inter-district level that would be convened next week.”

The idea, said Cde Sikhosana, was to have representations at national level of all provinces. He said the four nominees from each province would constitute an electoral college that would elect people for senior positions such as deputy secretary for the Youth League who would become a Politburo member.

The office of deputy secretary held by Cde Edson Chakanyuka is the most coveted position in the Youth League.

Cde Sikhosana said the recently announced Zanu-PF guidelines to select candidates would apply.
