Kenya Police Arrest 100 People in Swoop Over Stripping of Woman in Kayole

Nairobi County Deputy Police Commander Moses Ombati said most of those arrested were intoxicated.

Mr Ombati said the woman was attacked in Kayole on Monday evening and that the swoop was still on.

On Monday, hundreds of protesters took to Nairobi streets to condemn the humiliating public stripping of three Kenyan women earlier this month.

Police arrested at least 100 people in a swoop after a woman was attacked in Mihango, Kayole, in Nairobi for allegedly dressing indecently.

Nairobi County Deputy Police Commander Moses Ombati said most of those arrested were intoxicated.

Mr Ombati said the woman was attacked in Kayole on Monday evening and that the swoop was still on.

On Monday, hundreds of protesters took to Nairobi streets to condemn the humiliating public stripping of three Kenyan women earlier this month.

The mobilisation for the protest started last week through social media under the hashtag #MyDressMyChoice.

Protesters marched from Uhuru Park to the Embassava Sacco bus stage on Accra Road, where people alleged to be touts were earlier filmed ripping off a woman’s clothes for allegedly dressing indecently.
