The Turkish Government Intends to Extend the State of Emergency

ANKARA, April 17. / Corr. Kirill Zharov TASS /. The Cabinet of Ministers of Turkey on Monday decided to send to the Parliament request for an extension for another three months the state of emergency in the country. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Numan Kurtulmush.

"At the meeting, the government decided to extend the state of emergency such recommendation before the Cabinet gave the National Security Council (NSC) after the relevant decision of the Parliament it will be extended for three months..", - said Deputy Prime Minister. He added that the request for extension of the regime has been signed by members of the Government and will be submitted to Parliament for approval.

Earlier, the National Security Council of Turkey called for the extension of the state of emergency.

"There was an assessment imposed throughout the country the state of emergency order to continue to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens, democracy and the rule of law decided to recommend to extend the state of emergency." - said in a communique Council.

The current state of emergency ends on April 19 and it was extended twice for three months after the coup 15 July 2016. Earlier, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said he did not rule out the extension of the regime, so that he acted exactly one year until the middle of July this year. If the government deems it necessary to do so, in a short time send to the Parliament for ratification request.
